Check all your Shopify orders at once

Download your sales file from Shopify, drop it here, and see the fees and profit on every order, with the worst orders first. No retyping and no spreadsheet work.Your file stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or sent to us.

1 Get your Shopify orders export

  1. In your Shopify admin, open Orders.
  2. Click Export and choose the orders and a CSV format.
  3. Upload the downloaded file here.

Steps from Shopify’s guide to exporting orders. Shopify’s orders file has the order amounts but not your payment fees, so we calculate the fees.

2 Drop the file you downloaded

Something not matching your file? Email the first three rows, with names and addresses removed, tosupport@styrofoamworld.com and we will fix it.

No export from Shopify? Use your own spreadsheet

Most sellers should upload the file Shopify gives them, above. If you keep your own sheet, give it a header row and one order per row, with columns such as the sale price, item cost and shipping. We will match them by name..

How to check you entered the right numbers

Check the result against real payments. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, Payments, then View payouts, then View Transactions, then Export (steps from Shopify’s own guide). The export lists each transaction’s amount, fee and net payout. Compare a fee with the “Payment processing fee” line in the calculator. If they match, your inputs are right.

Shopify’s own card rate depends on your plan. If you use an outside payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, you pay Shopify a separate third-party fee on top of your provider’s rates.

How Shopify fees work in practice

A Shopify store has two kinds of cost: your monthly plan, and a fee on each payment. This calculator focuses on the second one, and lets you spread the first across your orders. If you use Shopify Payments, you pay only the card rate on each order. There are no extra third-party transaction fees.

The card rate drops as you move up a plan. On a $100.00 online order, the fee isBasic $3.20, Grow $3.00, Advanced $2.80. The fixed $0.30 is the same on every plan, so it hurts most on small orders. On a $10 order the Basic fee is $0.59, which is5.9% of the sale.

If you use PayPal or another outside provider, you pay Shopify’s third-party fee as well as the provider’s rate. On Basic that is 2% extra. A $60.00 order paid through PayPal Checkout (3.49% + 49¢) costs $3.78 in total, against $2.04 through Shopify Payments, a difference of$1.74. Shopify says PayPal payments are exempt from the third-party fee if Shopify Payments is your primary provider, so check which setup you have.

In-person sales through Shopify POS are cheaper: 2.6% + $0.10 on Basic. Orders that need currency conversion add 1.5% for US stores. Premium and international cards cost more than standard cards, but Shopify’s page only lists one premium rate, so the calculator does not include it.

Your real profit also depends on what you pay for the product, the shipping label, and your monthly costs. Enter your plan and app costs and your monthly orders, and the calculator adds the cost per order to the result. Refunds do not return the processing fee, and a dispute costs $15.00, returned if you win.

Three worked examples

1. A $60 order on Basic with Shopify Payments

The fee is 2.9% of $60.00 plus $0.30, which is $2.04. You receive $57.96.

2. A $100 order across the three plans

Basic: $3.20. Grow: $3.00. Advanced: $2.80. Each plan up saves $0.20 on a $100 online order.

3. PayPal as an outside provider

A $60.00 order on Basic via PayPal Checkout (3.49% + 49¢) costs $1.20 in Shopify’s third-party fee plus $2.58 to PayPal, which is $3.78 in total. Shopify Payments would cost $2.04.

Questions sellers ask

What are Shopify’s card processing fees in the US?

With Shopify Payments, standard online cards are 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.7% + $0.30 on Grow and 2.5% + $0.30 on Advanced. In-person cards are 2.6%, 2.5% and 2.4% + $0.10.

What is the third-party transaction fee?

If you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify charges a third-party transaction fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Your provider’s own card rates are charged separately on top.

Do I pay the third-party fee if I use Shopify Payments?

No. Shopify’s help center says that when you use Shopify Payments, orders paid with Shopify Payments, Shop Pay and manual methods such as cash are not charged third-party fees. If Shopify Payments is your primary provider, PayPal transactions are exempt too.

Do gift cards and store credit have a fee?

For stores created on or after May 12, 2025, Shopify charges the third-party transaction fee on the part of an order paid with store credit or gift cards. Stores created before that date do not pay it.

Do I get fees back on refunds?

No. Shopify says there is no additional fee to issue a refund, but the original processing fee, and any currency conversion fee, are not returned.

Is the monthly plan price included?

Not in the card fees. The calculator lets you spread your monthly plan and app costs across your orders if you enter them. Check Shopify’s pricing page for current plan prices.
