How to check you entered the right numbers
Check the result against a real order. In Seller Center, open Finance, then Statements, and look at the Settlement Report (path from TikTok’s own tax page). It breaks down the referral fee for each order. Compare it with the “Referral fee” line in the calculator. If they match, your inputs are right.
TikTok Shop fees for US sellers
The core cost on TikTok Shop is a single referral fee. TikTok says it covers all TikTok Shop fees except shipping and tax, so the calculator has just one fee line, plus the 3% rate for very large sales.

- Since November 1, 2025, sales tax is added to the referral fee for sellers with a business registration address in West Virginia or Texas. The page does not give a rate, so it is not included.
- The calculator uses four category groups. Check Seller Center for the exact rate of your sub-category.
How TikTok Shop fees work in practice
TikTok Shop is simple on the surface: one referral fee, and for most categories it is 6%. The detail that matters is what the fee is calculated on. TikTok defines the base as the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax, and says that base includes the shipping fee the customer pays.
In practice that means shipping you charge to the customer is not free of fees. On a $50.00 item with$6.00 shipping, the base is $56.00, so a 6% fee is $3.36instead of $3.00 on the item alone. Offering free shipping shrinks the base, but then you pay the label yourself.
Some categories pay less. Five fine-jewelry sub-categories (diamond, gold, jade, platinum and ruby, sapphire or emerald) dropped to 5% on October 31, 2024. The Pre-Owned categories are 5%. On the same $50.00 plus$6.00 shipping sale, the 5% rate gives a fee of $2.80, so you keep$0.56 more.
Big sales get a break in two groups. For Pre-Owned and Collectibles, any part of a sale above $10,000 is charged 3%. The rest of the sale is charged the normal rate. On a $12,000.00 Pre-Owned sale that works out to$560.00 in fees, which is 4.7% overall.
Returns have their own rule. When an order is refunded, TikTok gives back the referral fee but keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of it, capped at $5 per SKU. For a low-priced item that is a few cents, and for an expensive one it never goes above $5.
Keep the limits of this calculator in mind. It covers the referral fee and your own costs. It does not include creator affiliate commissions, ads, or the sales tax that TikTok adds to the referral fee for sellers in West Virginia and Texas. If you pay creators or run ads, subtract those yourself.
Three worked examples
1. A $25 top with free shipping
The base is $25.00, so the 6% referral fee is $1.50. The label costs you $5.00. You keep $18.50, before item cost.
2. A $50 gold ring, customer pays $6 shipping
The base is $56.00. At 5% the fee is $2.80, and you keep $47.20. At 6% the fee would be $3.36 and you would keep $46.64. Shipping costs you $6.00, covered by the customer.
3. A $12,000 Pre-Owned watch
The first $10,000 is charged 5% ($500.00). The remaining $2,000.00 is charged 3% ($60.00). Total fee $560.00. After a $30.00 shipping cost you keep $11,410.00, before item cost.
Questions sellers ask
What is the TikTok Shop referral fee in the US?
TikTok raised the referral fee to 6% per qualified order from April 1, 2024. Most categories are 6%. Five fine-jewelry sub-categories and the Pre-Owned categories are 5%. There is no separate setup fee on the pages we read.
Is the fee charged on shipping?
Yes, in the sense that the fee base is the customer payment plus any platform discount minus tax, and TikTok says the base includes the shipping fee paid by the customer. Free shipping removes that part from the base.
Is there a separate payment processing fee?
Not on the pages we read. TikTok says the referral fee covers all TikTok Shop fees except shipping and tax fees, so the calculator does not add a processing fee.
What happens to the fee if an order is refunded?
TikTok refunds the referral fee minus a refund administration fee of 20% of the referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU. On a $500.00 item at 6% the raw fee would be $6.00, so the cap brings it down to $5.
What changes above $10,000?
For Pre-Owned and Collectibles categories, any portion of a sale over $10,000 is charged 3% instead of the normal rate. The lower rate applies only to the part above $10,000.
Do Texas and West Virginia sellers pay extra?
Since November 1, 2025, TikTok adds sales tax to the referral fee for sellers with a business registration address in West Virginia or Texas. The page does not give a rate, so the calculator does not include it. You can see the breakdown in your Settlement Report and monthly invoice.
